Weather; On Lírio Island the weather is fairly mild and warm all year round. The summer is a short break from the constant rain. While there are occasional showers 3 to 4 times a weak, this is nothing compared to winter weather. These showers are normally short, and the temperature still stays warm.

What is Lírio Island?
Updates
The year is 1900, the setting is a small island, somewhere in the Atlantic ocean. It is unknown to most of the outside world. This island is Lírio, named for the beautiful lily's that were found on the island when it was first settled. This island is untouched by the modern world, they are years behind. They lead peaceful lives. They have remained this way because the elders object to change. They believe that they have lived peacefully for generations the same way, if they were to change anything society may fall apart. The elders know about what goes on in the outside world, the fighting and disease, they try to keep themselves sheltered from it. There is a great sense of tradition on the island that the residences often do not question, as their ancestors have lived the same way for many years, they feel they should honor them and do the same.
They do occasional trading with off shore vessels heading for America, but never are these ships aloud to dock on Lírio. They only trade for essentials most of the time, with the occasional luxury item of liquor or furniture. Sometimes more modern trinkets are acquired from trade, but for the most part the have everything they need on the island. They have been able to sustain life there with little outside help for many many years, and will continue to.
One day a passenger ship from England, that was heading for America is shipwrecked on the shores of Lírio. The ship was carrying many passengers of all races, they were going to make a new life for themselves in America. No one on Lírio is willing to lend their ship to get these people off the island, so they are stuck there. Some might be able to leave next time a merchant vessel passes by, but that is unlikely. One thing is certain, these people surely got the "new life" the were searching for, it might just be the wrong one.
The new comers do not just sit around all day and twiddle their thumbs. Most of them have found jobs, granted they are very low pay, and it is often the work that no one else in Tantala wishes to do, such as cleaning out stables, or back breaking work on the farms of Tantala. While some of the employers treat these new comers well, most treat them like animals, hardly giving them enough pay to buy food. These new comers live in sort of the Ghetto of Tantala. It was a quickly, and poorly constructed cluster of homes for the stranded new comers to live in. These home are stick build with no insulation, furniture, or flooring. They are extremely poor living conditions for anyone to be in, but the new comers should just be happy they were given anything at all. They are not the only ones who live in these slums, lower income citizen are forced to reside in similar conditions. No one ever said everything on Lírio was fair.
The original inhabitants of Lírio who have been their for many generations are unhappy with the arrival of these new comers. The elders feared what would happen is the island people began to inter marry with these outsiders, they felt it would surely spell doom for Lírio peaceful nature. Lírio, untouched by time it seemed. They knew of all the new things the modern world had, but they did not use much of it. Occasionally some new trinket would come on a merchant vessel, but with no power on the island, things like phones were useless.
These new comers brought along with them more than new age trinkets, they brought new age beliefs that did not sit well with the elders. Some were willing to convert to the beliefs of the Lírio islanders, while others were not so easy to just got along. These New Comers are starting to clash with the Original Inhabitants of Lírio, and neither side wants to go down without a fight.
Which side will you be on? Both are about to have some struggles learning to live together.
8/9/11;Hey everyone this is Lanya! I'm really sorry for not being around, life has just been busy and my internet connect has been extremely spotty. I'm sorry I don't have time to update everything, I just wanted to pop in and give a quick explanation. I have given Rae full admin powers to keep this place alive, since she has done a great job in my absence. She is free to make whatever changes and add new features as she sees fit! This includes new jobs, titles, plot ideas, and layouts. I'm giving her total free range, because I know she will keep the site alive and she would be able to help it grow (also Rae, please do add yourself to the staff info. ;D ). I will try my very best to pop in from time to time, but life is hectic right now. Rae knows where to contact me if I'm needed. I miss you guys, thanks so much to everyone who has stuck around. I'm grateful to you!
